Old Datca

Old Datca - Eski Datca"Eski" is Turkish for "old". Eski Datça is the original village, the town now known as merely Datça used to be a near uninhabited harbour for the original village higher up in the hill.

Eski Datça attracts visitors for its very nice old stone houses all in the same style along cobbled streets. Everything is extremely well-kept, climbing the hillside in between a greenery. A walk around the village takes just a few minutes, but there are several handicraft shops and a few cafés, so staying longer is very attractive.

An introduction to Eski Datca

Peace seekers will love what holidays in Eski Datca are about. A tiny, inland village sitting above its modern counterpart, Datca, which curls around a yacht-frequented bay, this quaint little place on the beautiful Datca peninsula is genuinely off the beaten track.

Whether you're enjoying a summer fortnight away or last-minute getaway, holidays in Eski Datca are the perfect antidote to the worries and hurries of modernity. A jumble of stone cottages and winding, cobbled streets with just a restaurant, bar, grocer's and art gallery, there's very little going on here, making it perfect for chilling-out couples. In fact, this is where you'll find the blissful Dede Retreat, a beautiful Thomson pension offering stone-clad apartments ideal for twosomes. And if you ever more want more activity – Datca, with its eateries, shops, beaches and Saturday market is always just a healthy walk or bus ride away.

Eski Datca holidays will appeal to explorers too. Take off in a hire car to discover the peninsula's untouched beauty, almond groves and private, brilliant-blue coves. Wow at the ancient ruins of Knidos on the peninsula's western tip, discover forgotten villages, take a boat to bustling Bodrum or just lie on a beach, perfecting your tan. That's the beauty of Eski Datca holidays – it's totally up to you.
